Greek mythology

Meliboea was a young maiden of Ephesus, who had a loving relationship with a young man named Alexis. However, her parents betrothed her to another man, so that Alexis, desperate, had to leave the city.

On her wedding day, Meliboea tried to kill herself by jumping off the roof, but landed unhurt. She fled to the seashore, where she found a boat. When she mounted on it, the ropes loosened on their own and the boat got out at sea. Without direction, the boat took her to the port of a city, in which Meliboea found Alexis, who was preparing a feast with his friends.

The reunited lovers got married, and in gratitude, two temples were dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite, called "Automate" (spontaneous or by it self) and "Epidaetia" (time to sit at the table to eat).

(137) Meliboea is related with the ability to be placed at the right time and place, respect to what one is wishing, like at the end of the movie "Serendipity" (2001) and at the beginning of the movie "Pretty Woman" (1990), or in the movies "Star Trek" (2009), "Dragon Fly" (2002) and "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991).

Shakti Gawain, author of the book "Creative Visualization" (1978), has Meliboea in Cancer in trine with Mercury in Scorpio, and in square with Vesta in Libra. Mercury also forms a trine with Uranus in Cancer, and a sextile with Saturn in Virgo.

Roman mythology

Proserpina became the queen of the Underworld, after Pluto kidnaped her while she was picking flowers.

The essential thing with (26) Proserpina is to stay connected with the inner self to assess the personal preferences and values in relation to every experience or situation (3:13 resonance with the Earth-Moon system). Through this style of receptivity becomes aware of what it wants to do and decisions can be taken according to the personal way of being and at the right moment.

Because of the subjective way in which the preferences about people or activities involved were acquired, it is capable of an amazing receptivity and devotion, like Kate in the movie "Family Man" (2001), or Helena in the video game "Uncharted" (PS3, 2007).

However, before (26) Proserpina is aware of its wishes, can have a hesitant attitude to life, waiting for something or someone to transform its life from the outside, like Rapunzel at the beginning of the movie "Tangled" (2010).

15:4 with Psyche (99.8)

Greek mythology

Orpheus, son of Calliope and the king of Thrace, was a great poet and musician. The melodies that came out of his lyre were so beautiful that they melted with stones, trees and wild animals.

Orpheus was married with the beautiful Eurydice, whom shortly after getting married, was fatally stung by a poisonous snake that she accidentally stepped on.

To bring her back to life, Orpheus descended into the world of the dead and asked Hades to set her free. He sang a melody so beautiful that Hades could not resist.

He agreed to let Eurydice return, but on the condition that he did not look at her until they had completely abandoned the world of the dead. Orpheus led his wife guiding her with the notes of his lyre through the paths of the underground world. However, when he had left, but she still was not (although it was almost out), he could not resist and turned to look at her, which vanished with a heart-rending cry.

(3361) Orpheus is related with the development of intimate relationships in which physical attraction and desire gradually gain strength, and in which there are also unique moments of physical proximity oriented to the first kiss, in which above all, each one has to evaluate their feelings and those of the other person, to decide if it is the right moment (6:13 resonance with Venus).

However, despite feeling that everything is adequate, performing the final movement involves acting decisively (3:4 resonance with the Earth-Moon system).

Remaining half-done

This are relationships with a lot of potential, but there is a risk of remaining half-done if the opportunity is not used due to doubts or inhibitions; or on the contrary, if one acts impulsively, without the necessary patience to wait for the other person to feel the same.

"Project Almanac" (2014) [1]

"Project Almanac" (2014) [2]

An impulsive behavior when the other person is not ready yet, could lead to a rejection or disappointment, and consequently, loss of hope and faith in the relationship.

"Project Almanac" (2014) [3]

If the relationship gets complicated or difficulties arise, (3361) Orpheus can also require decisive actions through the difficult path, in which the lunar affection manifests itself through a communication with strong emotional friction and also accompanied by physical contact in solid postures, how to hug or hold the other person with both hands (3:4 resonance with the Earth-Moon system).

Irene (Eirene) means in ancient Greek "the one that brings peace". In Greek mythology she was one of the three Horae, toghether with Dike and Eunomia. Irene was the embodiment of peace and wealth. It was usually represented by a beautiful woman with a crown of flowers and an olive branch in one hand, and on the other, a cornucopia.

The 11th hexagram of I-Ching, entitled 'Peace', is related with special moments in which supply and demand are very high

John Herschel explained, through the following letter, the reasons that led him to choose the name of the asteroid: "You will readily discover that this name [...] has some relation to this event (the Great Industrial Exhibition) which is now filling our metropolis [London] with the talent of all civilised nations, with those of Peace, the productions of Art and Science, in which all mankind must feel an interest."

The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations in the Crystal Palace of Hyde Park, London, ran from May 1 until October 18, 1851.

(14) Irene is related with the exhibition of products in shop windows or stands, according to categories (9:7 resonance with Interamnia).

(16) Psyche, moments of dizzy changes in a relationship

"50 Fist Dates" (2004)

(16) Psyche is a main belt asteroid discovered in March of 1852.

The orbit is in the outer zone of the main belt. It has a perihelion of 2.52 AU and an aphelion of 3.32 AU. The semimajor axis is at 2.92 AU. It has an orbital period of 5 years. It has an inclination of 3.0º. It has a diameter of about 200 km.

Star occultations occured in March and May of 2002, May of 2004, April of 2006 and August of 2014.

Greek mythology

Psique was the youngest and most beautiful of three sisters. Aphrodite, jealous of her beauty, sent Eros to launch an arrow that would made her fall in love with the most horrible man he found. However, Eros fell in love with her and launched the arrow at the sea; when Psyche was asleep, he took her flying up to his palace. To avoid Aphrodite seeing him, he visited Psyche always at night and in the dark, forbidding Psyche to find out his identity.

One day, already pregnant, when she went to visit her sisters, they asked her about her lover and she ended up confessing that she really did not know how he looked like. They planted the seed of doubt and convinced her to observe him with a lamp in the middle of the night while he was asleep. In doing so, she did not saw the monster that she had imagined, but his dazzling beauty. Her surprise caused that a drop of very hot oil of the lamp to fell on Eros, who woke up and left her, hurt and disappointed.

When Psyche realized what she had done, she asked Aphrodite to gave her the opportunity to regain the love of Eros and she imposed her four tasks:

  1. In a room with a huge pile of mixed seeds, she should classify them before sunset, each one in its heap. The task seemed impossible until a multitude of ants came to her aid, placing each kind of seed, grain by grain, in its own pile.
  2. She should acquire some of the gold wool of the terrible rams of the Sun. The horned animals were huge and aggressive, which were in the middle of a field fighting among themselves. Psyche had to walk among them trying to catch their wool. The task also seemed impossible until a few green reeds helped her, advising her to wait until sunset, when the rams were dispersed to rest; then she could pick up the strands of gold wool from the brambles, against which the rams had rubbed.
  3. She should fill a small glass bottle with water from the banned river. This river, guarded by dragons, fell in cascade from a spring located on the top of the highest mountain to the deepest pit of the underworld, and then emerge through the soil and sprout again from the spring. That time, an eagle aid her and she was able to see the landscape from a distant prospect and swoop at the right time.
  4. She should descend to the underground world with a small box so that Persephone filled with beauty. That time, a clairvoyant tower advised her that she would find people in miserable situation that would ask her for help, and that on three occasions she should ignore their pleas and continue on her own way. If she did not, she would stand forever in the underground world.

The four tasks that Aphrodite imposed to Psyche, suggest the appropriate way to start a relationship, or to become reconciled after a break:
  1. Knowing how to choose the right person, after having properly classified the people of the environment, according to the type of relationship possible or appropriate (companion, friend, lover, partner,...).
  2. Knowing when to disrupt temporarily the dialog, if it becomes too intense, so clarifying thoughts and feelings, and to be able to speak more calmly without entering in a meaningless discussion.
  3. Knowing how to choose the right moment to start each type of activity.
  4. Knowing how to get psyched up and go on, whithout looking back, onze a new relationship has started.

(16) Psyche follows a cyclical evolution, with a very long phase of continuous changes, not very noticeables (approximately 90% of the full cycle), followed by a very short phase were dizzy changes occur.

"The Last of Us" (PS3, 2013)

Sometimes, a hidden element is exposed, triggering a waterfall of changes. At that stage, a conversation can start as usual, but acquire a completely unpredictable course of development, that result in major changes in the relationship (1:5 resonance with the Earth-Moon system).

"Safe Heaven" (2013)

"The Beach" (1999)

Chris Pine, actor of the movies "Star Trek" (2009), "Carriers" (2009) and "Unstopable" (2010), has Psyche in Gemini, in the Crossing Point of the Age Progressions (Signs Horoscope and Moon-Node Horoscope). Psyche is in square with the Moon in Pisces; and forms a grand trine with Aphrodite in Libra and Salacia in Aquarius.

Relevant character

The greatest contribution of Stephen Jay Gould (10/09/1941) to the science was the theory of 'punctuated equilibrium', which he developed together with Niles Eldredge in 1972, and which proposes that most processes of biological evolution are characterized by long periods of evolutionary stability, wich is infrequently punctuated by swift periods of branching evolution.

At age 40, he was diagnosed with a cancer (peritoneal mesothelioma), which affects the abdominal lining and that is often found in people who have been exposed to asbestos. After a dificult two-years recovery, Gould published an article entitled «The median isn't the message», in which he explains his reaction to discovering that patients with this type of cancer had a median mortality of only eight months after diagnosed; and this relief upon realizing that statistical averages are useful abstractions, but do not cover the full range of possibilities, since some patients last longer and others survive. To determine where he was within the set of possibilities, he took into account the fact that the disease was detected early, that he was young, optimistic, and had the best treatments available. Thus, he assumed that he was in the favorable half of the upper statistical range.

After an experimental treatment of radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, Gould made a full recovery and his article became a source of inspiration for many other cancer patients.

(8373) Stephengould is related with situations in which faith is kept, despite the initial impossibility to act (2:1 resonance with Jupiter; 7:9 resonance with Ceres-Pallas), like Sarah Connor at the beginning of the movie "Terminator 2 - Judgment Day" (1991).

"A colony of ants is able to perform tasks of great complexity, as exploring its environment, building galleries, or decide the source of food between two possible choices. Pero, consideradas una por una, ninguna puede acometer, por sí sola, semejantes tareas, decimos que el comportamiento social del hormiguero emerge a partir de interaciones entre hormigas y no es reducible a las propiedades de un individuo de la colonia. But, taken one by one, none of them can undertake, by itself, such tasks, we say that the social behavior of the ant's nest emerges from interactions between ants and is not reducible to the properties of an individual of the colony. The same applies to the brain and the neurons that form it or to an ecosystem and the species that form it.

There is a critical density of ants, in which the system behaves as a whole, half way between order and disorder. If we try to modify their environment so to increase its density, the colony redefines its borders (hoarding close material) to return to its natural density."
