1P/Halley, simple but ingenious video games

1P/Halley is a comet discovered in December of 1758 and reobserved in the years 1835, 1909, 1982, 1986 and 1994. It has a perihelion of 0.59 AU and an aphelion of 35.1 AU (Mercury/Venus-Kuiper belt combination). The first known observation goes back to -239.

Orbital resonance:
  • 9:8 with Uranus (99.9%)
  • 11:5 with Neptune (99.7%)
  • 1:14 with Interamnia (99.8%)

The comet 1P/Halley is related with the sensorial experience of playing a video game, were the graphics, the sound and the music, becomes an interactive experience through the control by the game pad (Mercury/Venus-35 AU).

"Flower" (PS3, 2009)

The last appearance of the comet 1P/Halley, which reached its perihelion in February of 1986, clashed with the golden age of arcade video games (1982-1986), with "Pac-Man" (1980) as the most successful video game. (Wikipedia: History of video games)

In previous appearances of the comet (1909, 1835 and 1758), the video game interactive experience of 1P/Halley was reduced to simple playing a musical instrument. During the actual generation of video game consoles (2006-2013), the experience of 1P/Halley was expanded with the communication on line with other players by the headset.

(1685) Toro, 'to take the bull by the horns'

(1685) Toro is an apollo asteroid in 5:8 resonance with the Earth-Moon system (and near the 5:13 resonance with Venus), discovered in July of 1948. Its orbit is between Venus and the main belt. It has a perihelion of 0.8 AU and an aphelion of 2.0 AU. The semimajor axis is at 1.37 AU. There was an important adjustement in the determination of the orbit in July of 1956 and July of 1964.

The name 'Toro' cames from the Spanish word meaning 'bull' and its astrological meaning spring from the phrase 'to take the bull by the horns' (resonance 5:8 with the Earth-Moon system).

(1685) Toro is related with the precaution needed to move delicate or dangerous material objects from one place or position to another, or with the experience of advancing by a dangerous and difficult land (resonance 5:8 with the Earth-Moon system), like in the movie "Red River" (1948), were a stockman and his son move ten thousands heads of stock from Texas to Missouri.

(1685) Toro is also related to changes in position or situation of objects, in which personal criterion is above everything else. The situation remains in abeyance until we know wich is the action that will bring peace and harmony (5:13 resonance with Venus).

(37117) Narcissus, overcome the obstacles and self-limitations that impede nourish

(37117) Narcissus is an asteroid of the main belt discovered in November of 2000. It has a perihelion of 3.1 AU and an aphelion of 10.7 AU (Saturn-crosser asteroid). It has a diameter of about 11 km. There is a prediscovery image back to March of 1984. There is an important astronomical observation in February of 2002.

Greek mythology

In Greek mythology, the nymph Eco covered up unfaithfulness of Zeus to Hera, entertaining her with significant conversation, while Zeus had fun with his lovers, until Hera punished her obstructing her speak: she only could repeat the last word pronounced by her speaker.

Later, Eco fell in love with Narcissus, but because she could not speak, she could not show her love. Until the day that he was walking in the woods and he separated from his compains for a moment. When he asked: «Is someone here?», Eco answered: «Here, here». He was incapable of saw her hidden by the trees, Narcissus yelled: «¡Come!». After answering: «Come», Eco comed out of the trees with opened arms, but Narcissus refused her love in a cruelty way. Eco, ruined, hided in a cave and stopped eating, reducing herself until only her voice was left.

Eco was not the first, Narcissus already turned down many other women. So he knew unreturned love, Nemesis (goddess of revenge) made him fell in love with his own reflection in a pool and died as a result. The clairvoyant Tiresias foretelled on the day of his birth that he will live long, if he avoid watching him self.

The orbit of (37117) Narcissus unite the main asteroids belt (nutrition) with Saturn (creation of structures and establishment of limits). However, the orbit of (37117) Narcissus cross over the orbit of Saturn, going a bit into the Uranus influence (fragmentizer of structures).

The main theme of (37117) Narcissus is to overcome the obstacles and self-limitations that impede nourish, no matter if that is in the physical level (feed), in the emotional level (fond), in the mental level (culture) or in the level of the soul (intuition).

Anorexia (physical level)

Anorexia is a disease that can commence in five different ways: (1) the person distort the notion that has about herself, influenced by social stereotypes, beginning unhealthy diets; (2) resignation to feed by oneself determination, as a protestation; (3) carries forward a physical training without an appropriated diet; (4) has to deal with extreme work (or class) timetables; or (5) has to live on the breadline of nourishment. In any case, the person does not feed enough.

Like people that take drugs or healthy people that take psychotropic medication by his own determination [self-medication, without medical recommendation], because of brain plasticity, the brain modify its internal structure to adapt and face excess or deficiency of neurotransmitters. From that moment, the problem, initially a problem because the situation, a physical or psychological problem, becomes a psychiatric problem, based in the disequilibrium of neurotransmitters of satiate or hunger.

The sensation of hunger is reduced eventually; at the same time, because of stop eating, the person feels more and more weak, that result in less will to live or to go for help. Because several factors join together in the same direction, the disease evolve very fast and in extreme cases cause death.

The main characteristic of the people that recover from a serious anorexia is less vivacity in the voice and the main trouble that they have to face is the effort eating, because in most cases they have to do it without hunger. Like people that take drugs or healthy people that take
psychotropic medication by his own determination [self-medication, without medical recommendation] for many years, the brain plasticity allow to recover back the equilibrium of the initial internal structure to some extent, however, it is not a fully reversible process, since with each modification occurs neuronal death.

The culture of New Age (mental and soul level)

During the prediscovery of (37117) Narcissus, appeared several books that described very well the sceptic people that are unable to benefit from the New Age culture. For example, in the book "World of the Paranormal: The Next Frontier" (Le Shan, 1984), the author argue this way:

«We can see the problem clearly when think about the colleagues of Galileo who refused to look through the telescope. They refused because it was unnecessary to look; they had confused their theory with the facts. As far as they were concerned, they knew the facts and there was simply no point in observing a contradictory fact; the telescope's view was necessarily false because it contradicted known facts. At this distance we can see their reasoning and their confusion clearly. It is, however, harder to see when the modern scientist, not looking at the facts of parapsychology, simply dismisses them as necessarily false and therefore unnecessary to examine, since --for him-- they contradict a known fact.» (Le Shan, 1984)

Another example it is in the introduction of the book "Every Day Tarot: A Choice Centred Book" (Gail Fairfield, 1984), where the author argue this way:

"Everyone has psychic capability, just as everyone can potentially float in the water. People who have been taught to be afraid of the water, who believe that the water can hurt them, may never choose to learn to float. Similarly, those who have been taught to distrust, discount, or fear psychic processes, may find it difficult to openly accept and explore them. By working through those fears, people can reshape their beliefs and embrace their own psychic potential. [...] If you really believe that you are not lovable, no one can prove to you that you are. [...] No matter what loving things people say or do, you'll discount them. You'll tell yourself that they can't possibly know what they're talking about and that their judgement can't be trusted. You continue to reinforce the belief that you're not lovable. [...] If you believe that you're not psychic, the same process holds true. No matter what happens, you'll dismiss it as coincidence, happenstance, or a trick. If you believe that you can't be psychic, you won't be psychic." (Gail Fairfield, 1984)
