(5869) Tanith, nature reserves

(5869) Tanith is an amor asteroid discovered in November of 1988. It has a orbit between Earth and the main asteroid belt (perihelion 1.23 AU, aphelion 2.39 AU). There is a prediscovery image back to February of 1977.

In Carthage mythology of the Western Mediterranean, especially in the island Ibiza, Tanit was a goddess of fertility.

In the year 1988 appeared the movie "Gorillas in the Myst", which tells the true-life story of naturalist Dian Fossey and her ethological work in Rwanda with Mountain Gorillas. She also dedicated herself to saving the African Mountain gorilla from illegal poaching and likely extinction.

A few months after the discovery of (5869) Tanith, in Spain was approved the law 4/1989 of conservation of natural spaces and maintenance of rural flora and fauna.

The orbit is between Earth-Mars and the mid zone of the main belt. It has a perihelion of 1.18 AU and an aphelion of 2.61 AU. The semimajor axis is at 1.89 AU. It has an orbital period of 2 years and 222 days. It has an inclination of 72.1º (quintile, 0º09' orb).

It has an orbital period of 3 years and 94 days. It has an inclination of 52.0º (septile 51º26', 0º39' orb). It has a diameter of about 4.57 km.

There were photometric observation in the years 1976, 1978-1979, 2002 y 2007.

(1) Ceres is a dwarf planet of the main belt discovered in January of 1801. It was spotted without being identified in December of 1943.

The orbit is located at the middle zone of the main belt. It has a perihelion of 2.55 AU and an aphelion of 2.97 AU. The semimajor axis is at 2.76 AU. It has an orbital period of 4 years and 220 days. It has an inclination of 10.6º. It has a diameter of about 930 km.

Photometric observations were made in November of 1984, June of 1995 and between the years 2002-2004.

Ceres was the goddess of agriculture, especially the cultivation and harvest of cereals. It was also related to fertility and maternal relationships. Its main function was to feed and nourish.

(433) Eros is an amor asteroid discovered in August of 1898. Its orbit is between Earth and Mars, with an orbital piercing toward the main belt. It has a perihelion of 1.13 AU and an aphelion of 1.78 AU. It has a diameter of about 17 km. There are prediscovery images back to July-June and April of 1898, May-April and February-January of 1894 and December-October of 1893. There are astronomical explorations in the years 1900-1910, 1930-1931, 1968 and especially in 1998 and 2000-2001. 

Unlike Venus, which attracts through passive yin energy, (433) Eros has a very active yang energy.
