Greek mythology

The etymology of Selene is connected to the word 'selas', which means 'light'; she was the goddess of the full moon and was represented as a woman dressed in tunics and with a crescent on her head, carrying a torch. She drove a cart of silver pulled by a pair of white horses or oxens.

Selene was known for its romance with the beautiful mortal Endymion. Selene saw him from the top and slipped from heaven to earth to have a passionate relationship with him.

Endimion asked Zeus to grant him the eternal sleep and the ability to sleep with open eyes, so he could be able to contemplate the moon. All the nights, Selene kissed him on his lips, while he slept with open eyes. From this love fifty children were born.

In the next video there is eye contact between Edward and Bella, that even continues when his fellow class initiates a conversation with her:

(580) Selene is related with reciprocal connection that is established between two individuals through eye contact, even if there is a crowd of people in between. In japanese mangas-animes, this phenomenon is emphasized by two circles that surround the heads of the two individuals connected, so that everything that it is outside of these, appears in gray or in color dimmed.
